Skin tag, or fibroepithelial polyp at first may appear as a tiny soft bump on the skin. Over time, it grows into a flesh-colored piece of skin attached to the skin surface by a stalk. Researchers don’t know exactly what causes skin tags to grow. Skin tags are not present at birth and their frequency increases with age. Skin tag are harmless. It is believed that friction may lead to the development of skin tags. Skin tag forms primarily in areas where the skin forms creases, such as the neck, armpit, and groin. They may also occur on the face, on the eyelids.
